Q multi-codec audio transcoding
engine
Aspex Q uses a dedicated software
programmable Audio DSP unit to couple extremely
flexible audio transcoding capability to the video compression engine. The core software programmability
allows for multiple audio codecs to be implemented
on-chip. Implemented audio codecs include:
- AAC and AACPlus
- MP3
- MPEG-1 Layer-2
- Dolby AC-3
- DTS
- WMA
- PCM
- more can be custom programmed on the DSP and SSP cores
Aspex Q Audio DSP offers support for up to 8 channels
of audio (4 stereo pairs or 7.1 surround) and audio sampling rates of 44.1Khz, 48Khz
and 96KHz.
The 24-bit audio processing unit delivers further audio
processing capability such as:
- Source selection
- Delay compensation
- 8-way audio mixing
- gain and balance adjustment
- audio sample counter (synchronisation)
- delay compensation
- PTS/DTS insertion
The audio transcoding engine is coupled with the
programmable System Stream Processor (SSP), which
enables additional processing algorithms to be implemented,
encapsulation into any container format and the
application of standard or proprietory digital rights
management algorithms (DRM).
